President Aquino lauds new PHC Facilities
President Benigno S. Aquino III was the guest of honor at the inauguration of the new facilities of the Philippine Heart Center. He cited PHC's outstanding and continuing efforts to serve the heart care needs of Filipinos, specially the underprivileged.
The event was timed with the PHC 38th anniversary celebration. PHC is a tangible and grateful beneficiary of the P-Noy administration's Kalusugan Pangkalahatan (Universal HealthCare) program.
According to PHC Executive Director Dr. Manuel 'Chuck' Chua Chiaco, the centerpiece of these new facilities is the Hybrid Operating Room, the first in the Philippines, with built-in robotic imaging system for advanced cardiovascular procedures. Other facilities to be inaugurated include a dedicated Pediatric Cardiovascular Operating Room, a new General Surgery Operating Room, separate from the Cardiac operating theaters, and an Endoscopic and Special Procedures Operating Room. The Expanded Operating Room Complex of PHC now includes ten operating rooms, 8 dedicated for cardiovascular surgery. PHC is also proud of its three top-of-line cath labs and life support training programs that have earned for the hospital the status of an internationally certified life support training center.
Joining the President in unveiling the markers in the OR complex were Dr. Enrique Ona (Secretary of Health), House Speaker and District IV-Quezon City Congressman Feliciano "Sonny" Belmonte, Jr. who colloborated with the PHC for the construction of the Endoscopy and Special Procedures OR, Mayor Herbert Bautista of Quezon City, and the PHC top management team (Executive Director Dr. Manuel Chua Chiaco, Jr., Assistant Director Dr. Gerardo Manzo of Medical Services, Asistant Director Dr. Maria Linda Buhat of Nursing Services, and Assistant Director Mr. Francisco Gomez, Jr. of Administrative Services).
