The birth of the Philippine Heart Center Journal on September 30, 1994 signals the coming of age of the Center's concern for cardiovascular diseases in matters of diagnosis and treatment. It also envisioned to stimulate and sustain the role of the PHC as a Center for treatment of heart condition that will place a grave responsibility upon the leaders of cardiology and cardiac surgery. There are already many outstanding cardiologists and cardiac surgeons in our country, products of rigid and stringent training at the Philippine Heart Center, and there is a need to review their work, see what has been accomplished, and let it be known not only to their colleagues in the medical profession locally but also internationally.
