The Philippine Heart Center conducts a monthly community outreach program called the "People's Day". The primary objective of this program is to promote awareness and campaign for the modifications of risk factors associated with the development of cardiovascular disorder. One Hundred patients per month are benefited with free blood cholesterol and sugar determination and EKG. Medical consultattions, nutritional assessment and counselling are provided by the adult cardiology fellows and the dietetians. The highlight of the People's Day is a lay forum wherein health education focusing on the preventive, promotive and rehabilitative aspects of health are emphasized. There are volunteers from the pharmaceutical sectors supporting the People's Day activity, like Pfizer, Mead Johnsons, Novartis, Astra Zeneca, Abbott, Nestle', Merck Sharp and Dohme and United Pharmaceuticals. The Division of Nursing Education under the Office of Nursing Service coordinates this activity with the rest of the support facilities like Allied Services and Engineering Services. |
